ISSUE: A recent software update for Microsoft Office on Mac computers can prevent Outlook from working properly. If your Mac is running macOS High Sierra and you install update 16.12 for Outlook 2016, then Outlook will repeatedly (every 30 seconds or so) prompt for your email password.

RESOLUTION:
Hi, As of September 25, 2017, mac OS 10.13 High Sierra is publically available for all Mac users to install. Office 2016 for Mac is fully supported on High Sierra. For the best experience, we recommend you update Office to version 15.38 or later. To catch everyone up it looks like this is a quirk of office 2016 (latest patches), High Sierra, and Next Cloud When I downgrade to Office 2016 15.6 (OSX), then the problem goes away so its very odd not sure what they broke in some of the versions beyond 15.6. In the same document, Microsoft told those running the newer Office 2016 for Mac that they must update its applications to version 15.35 or later, if they intend to upgrade their Macs to High Sierra.
Since individual updates for Office on Mac cannot be uninstalled, the workaround for affected systems entails backing up certain files*, removing Microsoft Office, then reinstalling Office. Remember that you can still always access email via the Outlook Web App, https://owa.eku.edu.

To determine whether your Mac is susceptible to the issue described above, try the following steps: Ubar 4 0 5 – the dock replacement rollers.
- First, check the macOS version of your computer.
- Second, check the version of Office on your computer.
- Third, choose Manual Updates so you can skip this version of Outlook until a fix is published.

Office 2011 for Mac was never tested against High Sierra by Microsoft. Microsoft does not recommend using this now unsupported Office installation. There are those that continue to use it, and any future release of High Sierra can abruptly end that grace period.
High Sierra requires Office 2016 for Mac at version 15.35 or later — and 15.40 just became available. If you are not in this version range, update, reboot, and re-evaluate Office performance with High Sierra. Do not have 12 GB RAM of applications running on a machine with less physical RAM, as your machine will crawl while swapping. Do not have any so-called anti-virus, mac cleaner, or memory management software installed, as these will play havoc with normal operating system performance.
